ABOUT ABOUT

THIS IS A TWO-DAY CLASS! See details below!

A petticoat is a layer that goes underneath a ballgown or skirt that adds volume to your costume. In this class, you will learn how to make a 3-tiered plus ruffle petticoat at 1/4 scale. Casey will lead you through the math and calculations that you will need to make a full scale petticoat of your very own. In this class, you will learn different ways to gather fabric, finish the hem of a petticoat and add a waistband. You will make one layer of a petticoat at 1/4 scale to your body. Ultimately, you will make one layer of a 3 tiered plus ruffle petticoat to learn the techniques and apply them to your very own ballgown petticoat at home. This is an intermediate class.

Class Difficulty:

  • Entry: Anyone, no matter their skill level, can take the class.
  • Newbie: Has completed a sewing project or a similar project within that medium.
  • Intermediate: Has completed multiple projects of varying difficulties, but lacks certain knowledge and techniques.
  • Advanced: Is ready to learn just about anything and is ready to pick up a new skill!
